Narrowband

More information on narrowbanding

Update your license emission designators and stay compliant with FCC narrowband requirements.

Why narrowband matters

The FCC narrowband mandate required VHF/UHF Industrial/Business and Public Safety licensees in the 150–470 MHz bands to operate on channels with a maximum bandwidth of 12.5 kHz (or equivalent efficiency), unless operating under a waiver.

Wideband-only operations without a waiver are no longer permitted. When you renew or modify a license, you may need to replace wideband emission designators with narrowband designators — or certify that your equipment meets the narrowband efficiency standard.
